The Same-Sex Marriage… From Evolution To Revolution

Just a week ago, I ran across this article on The New York Times that portrays how in 1970, in Minneapolis, Mr. Baker and Mr. McConnell became the first same-sex couple known to apply for a marriage license:
This week marked another major step in the same-sex marriage (r)evolution, with Ireland passing same-sex marriage referendum on May 22, 2015, and becoming the first country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage through national vote! Prime Minister Enda Kenny said the outcome of the referendum “disclosed who we are, a generous, compassionate, bold and joyful people”.
The national turnout to vote in Friday’s referendum in Ireland was over 60%, which is relatively high and showing how much people are willing to deal with marriage equality, and among them over 60% have been favorable to moving forward on marriage equality.
Boy, we are in 2015, it’s about time!
Over the years, a growing number of countries have adopted favorable same-sex marriage laws and Ireland becomes in 2015, the 19th country (the 14th in Europe) to recognize same-sex marriage.
France passed the Marriage Equality Act in 2013 and same-sex marriages are since being legally performed in Tahiti (French Polynesia) under the exact same conditions than for a straight couple.

It’s been almost 45 years and Mr. Baker and Mr. McConnell are still happily married and love each other!
Hopefully this will soon… no longer be a matter of debate. Every country will allow same-sex marriage and LOVE WILL WIN!!!
