Allie & Robert live in Newport Beach, California and after getting engaged in Hawaii, they decided to plan a destination wedding in Tahiti for June 2017 (I know, this one was long overdue). Robert had been to Tahiti a few times in the past on business trips, and literally fell in love with the destination so this was a no brainer: they would have their ceremony in Moorea and get their friends and family to join them for an amazing Moorea destination wedding week.
This lovely couple has chosen to marry in Moorea, a small heart-shaped island in the middle of the South Pacific, as a tribute to their love of Tahiti and the ocean. They particularly wanted to invite everyone there because their sense of spirituality and the growth of their love is, to some extent, connected to this place. Allie says that Robert comes alive in Tahiti and is sooo happy – riding waves and catching fish, opening coconuts and picking ripe mangoes.
When they started dating, Allie would often ask Robert “Where did you come from?” – Sometimes in awe, sometimes with an eye roll, but always in wonder, and he would answer “From the Ocean”.
He would ask her where she came from – usually when she ate half a pepperoni pizza all to herself – and she would answer “From Chicago!”
Allie wanted the flowers to be the center decoration of the wedding and also wanted to make the ambiance of their venue very special and different from what it would be like on an ordinary night.
So I suggested – and we did a suspended floral centerpiece above the head table to make a statement as Allie & Robert’s 80 guests entered into the restaurant.
Our dream was to be married in French Polynesia and create the experience of a lifetime for our guests. We didn’t know how we were going to make our dream a reality – and then we found wedOtahiti online. We sent a request for more information. Nelly replied promptly and we met via Skype that same evening.
We worked with Nelly on the full wedding planning package, including pre and post wedding events. We had 80 guests, 65 of whom had travelled from all across the U.S. Our friends and family were blown away by each of the events, from the Rehearsal Dinner to the Wedding itself to the private island excursion the day after.
Without Nelly we could not have pulled off the wedding of our dreams. Not only was Nelly fantastic to work with on the “vision” but she was excellent at managing vendor relationships and organizing the details. Nelly was our central point of contact and managed all communications with vendors directly. This was a huge help, particularly given the time, language and currency barriers. Nelly was always very prompt to reply to email, and especially as the wedding date approached, her trackers and timelines were invaluable!
When friends would ask us how we were planning a wedding on the other side of the world, we would answer with one word: “Nelly!” Not only does Nelly have the experience and local contacts to make any dream Tahiti Wedding a success, she also has impeccable taste and judgement. Nelly provided the perfect balance of listening to our ideas and offering guidance/advice.
I could not recommend working with Nelly more. More important than the venue, the food or the flowers, wedOtahiti was the best investment we made.
A note for anyone still deciding if a destination wedding in French Polynesia is the right decision – it IS! Not only were we married in the most beautiful place on earth, but we and our guests had the experience of a lifetime. Guests told us it was the best trip of their life. 🙂 🙂 🙂
