THE HANDS CEREMONY: ANOTHER UNITY RITUAL FOR YOUR CEREMONY IN TAHITI
Unity Ritual Series : Ideas For Your Ceremony In Tahiti
The Hands Ceremony In Tahiti
A question I get asked a lot is what unity rituals you can incorporate in your ceremony in Tahiti.
There is no ceremony ritual better over another.
My advice? Go with your gut and choose one that feels true to you and that you feel will blend in naturally in your Tahiti ceremony!
When I work and develop your ceremony in Tahiti, in addition to incorporating your love story and to write a ceremony that celebrates your unique personalities, I like to always add a unity ritual.
I am often asked for a “Tahitian touch” or a “local custom” which usually translates into adding a wrists tying with a Ti leaf, a plant sacred to Tahitians.
I am not so good at opening a coconut live with a stone to pour out the water, or at dancing so I leave that stuff to the experts (and I’ll do another post to explain Tahitian unity rituals soon)!

The Hands Poem or Blessing of the Hands reading reminds the couple of the deep and meaningful stuff such as the love, companionship, compromises and lifelong promises they make to each other on the wedding day.
So the couple face each other, and hold hands, as simple as that.
Just like the unity sand ritual that I presented here, which works wonders for a ceremony in Tahiti, the wrists tying with a Ti (Auti) leaf works great along with the Hands Ceremony otherwise called the Blessing of the Hands.

Hands are considered to be a connection to the heart, and a hands ceremony symbolically brings two hearts together.
There are a few variations of the reading but here is one:
These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow, and forever.
These are the hands that will work alongside yours, as together you build your future.
These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other.
These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief fills your mind.
These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes; tears of sorrow, and tears of joy.
These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children. These are the hands that will help you to hold your family as one.
These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it.
These are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged, will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.
